Nigeria prepares the airlifting of its citizens from South Africa.

The Nigerian Embassy in Pretoria has just completed the official screening for over 1094 Nigerian citizens that registered to be repatriated in wake of anti-immigrants protest in South Africa.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in a message to journalists on a WhatsApp group, disclosed that the verification process, which began on Thursday, was being jointly conducted by the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria; South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO); the South African Police Service and immigration authorities to determine those eligible for evacuation.
The move comes as anxiety grows among migrant communities in South Africa, where anti-foreigner protests and hostility have intensified in recent weeks. Similar concerns recently prompted Ghana to initiate the evacuation of its citizens from the country.
