I'm In A Relationship: How You Can Be Sexually Pure In Mind And Body

We live in a sexually perverted world where everything have to be sexually appealing to the physical senses. The entertainment industry, fashion and its accomplice has presented premarital or extramarital sex to many of us on a cheap platter - If you can't have it, see it or imagine it.

For those who want to serve God, it's often a battle between sexual purity and impurity, a struggle between having a pure heart and a defiled heart. Who will deliver us from this world of sin?

Many singles who go into a relationship promote sexual immoralities, some preach the gospel of safe sex as condoms are to be used and many others battle with the issue of lust. Some even believe that seeing porn materials or masturbation is better than doing the physical act. But does all these make one sexually pure in the mind?
.
The consequence of sexual impurity in the body and mind is too grievous to bear. In the body, you'll be exposed to premarital or extramarital sex, abortion, unprepared motherhood, unwanted pregnancy, guilt and condemnation, STDs and soul tie. And in the mind, lust, infatuation, defilement and perversion takes over.

Is it possible to achieve sexual purity in the mind and body even when the world seem to be sexually perverse? Here's how to achieve it!

1. Abstain from sexual immoralities
.
A man cannot be burned with fire if he's not playing around it. And you can't carry the fire of immoralities in your bosom and you wouldn't be burned by it (Prov. 6:27).
.
Check that relationship you're presently into and be honest, does it promote sexual purity or not? If the likes of premarital sex, extramarital sex, 'romancing', kissing, petting, caressing each other's sexual organs, having erotic conversations or sharing intimate issues when you're not married or with someone other than your spouse characterized your relationship; sexual purity in the body can't be achieved.

And in case you forget, your body belongs to God before it becomes your partner's. Make your body His temple and not a temple of idol (immoralities).

2. Purge your heart
.
The root cause of all issues in life is first with the matter of the heart. A heart that is corrupt, carnal or sensual will always produce a polluted thought and immoral actions.
.
You can't be sexually pure in the mind when your heart still looks at a woman or man to lust. Your mind will be impure when you cannot think on those things that are pure, honest, godly and of good report.
.
However, it takes the word of God to constantly renew your mind. Indecent dressings, movies, TV programs, explicit websites and soap operas will pollute it. Don't be exposed to it!
.
And if you don't prayerful cast down all imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God in your heart, these thoughts will cast you down and make you a victim. How often do you purge your heart?

3. Embrace discipline with the opposite sex
.
Most people become victims of a polluted heart and actions when they lack discipline with their relationship with the opposite sex. Discipline in the sense that you know the limit between love and lust, define boundaries as to the time you spend lest it affects other areas of your life.

Lack of discipline in expressing intimacy will lead to immoralities. For instance, if a simple visit becomes frequent and extended, there’s fire on the mountain. If you don't take the bull by the horn in that relationship (discipline), the bull will knock you down by its horn (defeat).
.
Lack of discipline would expose you to the things that could destroy your life. Remember, a man who cannot rule over his spirit is like a city without walls.

It's not about being a virgin that makes you envied by God, it's a man or woman who's pure in heart that shall see Him.
.
Examine that relationship you're presently into, is it making you sexually pure in both spirit and body? If it doesn't do so, it'll destroy you in no time.
